There is no true evangelization if the name, teaching, life, promises, the kingdom and the mystery of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, are not explained.

Pope Paul VI
Letter from The Bishop
“…I am announcing a Diocesan evangelization initiative beginning today with this celebration of the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul and continuing through to the year 2010, when we will mark the Tenth Anniversary of the Ninth Diocesan Synod. This initiative will involve the entire Diocese, all the faithful, parishes and institutions.

As we now move through the process of becoming more attuned to our mission of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ across the mountains and throughout the valleys of West Virginia, I urge every Catholic to make a special effort to become more familiar with St. Paul the Apostle. Set some time aside each day to read and prayerfully reflect on his divinely inspired letters to the early Christian communities, which are so rich in wisdom and so full of practical advice for authentic Christian living. Ponder his life and struggles as they are so wonderfully portrayed in the Acts of the Apostles. Strive to follow his example and pray to God through his intercession for your families and faith communities.”
